- Hi! I'm helping a friend setup an Aceex 28.8/14.4 data/fax modem on an
- MCA 486SX running winn95. It's second hand and without docs. I plugged
- the card in and "Add New Hardware" found the comm port (COM2)
- but couldn't find nor communicate with the modem when I ran the modem
- wizard. I believe the problem is the jumper settings. The default is
- COM1 IRQ 4 but the mouse is on COM1. COM2 settings are i/o range is
- 02F8 - 02FF and IRQ 3. Could someone who happens to have one of these
- modems please e-mail the correct jumper placements to me? And if
- possible send a diagram of the settings so I don't screw it up. I did
- randomly try different settngs but no luck. On the card, the jumpers
- are numbered 1-6 along one side and IRQ are listed on the other in this
- order: 2 5 3 4. I have to know which ones to short. If you have time
- for an explanation of these jumpers, so much the better. I brought it
- home to try in my machine. it'll use COM 4: 02E8 - 02EF, IRQ=3. Many
- many thanks to anyone who can help.
